limiting number of posts / load more button

The plugin has been great to use. However, I cannot limit the number of posts. The load more button does not seem to work, even though it has been selected. I use a lower number of posts in the posts per load field, but I still get all posts.
Can you help?

Hi Josh,

What is the number of posts you have setup currently ? Also, are you using generic shortcode here ?

Thanks for responding.
I set it to 6 or 12 but as many posts s are in the category (sometimes 50) come up at once. I want the site to load faster, so I would prefer to have a load more button.
This is not set up as a generic short code.

Hi Josh,

May be there is some other plugin or theme interfering this settings. Any chance you can deactivate other plugins and try ? Or use the default wordpress theme for the test ?
